If the “big kids” in your family really want to include gambling in your next vacation, but you're worried about finding a place that's also family-friendly for little ones, worry no more. Believe it or not, many of the world's largest resort-casinos cater to guests of all ages. Your safest bet is to choose your locale first and to look for a casino second.
Though Las Vegas may have an adult reputation (Sin City anyone?), it's actually quite kid-friendly. Many of the city's biggest hotels and casinos offer accommodations and entertainment suitable for the entire family, but a little common sense goes a long way. For example, the new Hooters hotel and casino is overtly adult-oriented, but Circus Circus is a classic family attraction. Virtually all of the Strip's outdoor shows are suitable for every member of the family, and a large number of the stage shows are open to all ages. The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace include several kids clothing and toy stores, and most of the casinos offer supervised arcades.
If you're looking for something more exotic than Las Vegas, then consider the luxury Atlantis Paradise Island resort in the Bahamas. Atlantis has the largest casino in the Bahamas, but it also has several water parks, an artificial lagoon, and a wide variety of kid-specific activities and attractions. Families can explore the resort together, and they can also split up as younger members take advantage of kids club events and adults head to the casino.
Another great family vacation option that conveniently includes gambling for the adults is a cruise. Many cruise lines create a good balance between family attractions and gambling by offering on-board casinos. Island hop with the kids during the day, and then leave them with ship staff and the other young passengers while you enjoy the ship's casino at night.
